Wedding Reception

Ok, so now you’re through the ceremony, the two of you are now husband and wife - it’s time to celebrate that joining with your family and friends! This is the time where things start to pick up and turn more into a party for everyone! Remember, there is still a variety of typical formalities that take place at the reception and music selection will be very important to the mood you’re trying to create. Be it elegant or just fun, music will set the tone. As you plan the order of events consider the ‘mini-events’ listed below. We’ve included some of the most common musical selections for each to help give you some ideas and get you started.


Cocktail Hour This is the time period where your guests will be arriving from the ceremony and await your grand entrance.

Newlywed’s Entrance This is entrance of the wedding party and of course the grand entrance of the bride and groom.

	Dinner Music The is the music played during the period where everyone is eating and getting food.

		First Dance Your first dance you’ll share as a married couple - it’s time to show your love for one another.

		Family Dances These are typically the Bride/Father and Groom/Mother dance.


Wedding Party Dance A special dance shared only by the members of the wedding party.

Bouquet/Garter Toss Time to give the bouquet and garter a toss!

		Cake Cutting The cutting of the wedding cake and the bride and groom feeding each other

		Money Dance A dance where people pay to dance with the bride and groom.

	Ethnic Dances and Events Your heritage can play a large part in your wedding day and can include dances, games, and other traditions share on your wedding day.

	Last Dance This is where you share your last dance of the evening before your grand exit.
